Figuring out the Feingold diet

In the 1970s, allergist and pediatrician Benjamin Feingold developed a special diet that he found to help children with hyperactivity. This diet sought to eliminate artificial ingredients that are made from petroleum (crude oil). Many studies have been conducted demonstrating the effectiveness of the Feingold program, but the diet is still considered out of the mainstream of AD/HD treatments. (By the way, many studies have also been conducted by food manufacturers showing that the chemicals targeted by this diet are safe to consume.)
